Maxi Pereira (SL Benfica)
Maxi Pereira was outstanding in both legs against FC Zenit St Petersburg. So energetic have his displays been of late that he has assumed the moniker 'Benfica's locomotive'. On Tuesday he excelled in defence and attack, scoring the opener in a 2-0 win, and overall was a handful for the visitors to contend with.

Luisão (SL Benfica)
The centre-back was once again the authoritative voice in the Eagles' defence, cajoling those around him and demonstrating sound positional sense that enabled him to snuff out Zenit attacks. Aside from rallying his team-mates he also helped stir the crowd, raising his fists to ask them for help in the closing stages as the tie reached a critical juncture.

Nélson Oliveira (SL Benfica)
Oliveira was another to make his European bow this week. He may have only been on the field for a short time but he stretched Zenit with his strength, pace and diagonal runs. His deflected strike in added time capped a fine cameo performance.
